Le mercredi 18 juin dernier, le Pr\u00e9sident du Conseil, Faure Essozimna Gnassingb\u00e9, a inaugur\u00e9 l\u2019usine textile de l\u2019entreprise Star Garments Togo, implant\u00e9e sur la Plateforme industrielle d\u2019Ad\u00e9tikop\u00e9 (PIA). Un nouvel acteur du secteur textile dont l\u2019installation sur le sol togolais marque un tournant d\u00e9cisif dans la strat\u00e9gie de transformation industrielle du pays et de cr\u00e9ation d\u2019emplois. Et comme le dit si bien le <\/em><\/strong>Directeur <\/em><\/strong>g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Star Garments Group, Arumugampillai Sukumaran, cet outil est un \u00ab un investissement et une croyance partag\u00e9e en la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9\u2026 \u00bb.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u2019entr\u00e9e il faut souligner que Star Garments Togo est une filiale textile du groupe bas\u00e9 aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Et l\u2019usine textile Star Garments Togo est la premi\u00e8re usine dudit groupe sur le continent africain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entreprise fond\u00e9e en 1978 au Sri Lanka, Star Garments a d\u00e9marr\u00e9 ses activit\u00e9s avec cinq usines et 5.000 employ\u00e9s. Depuis 2015, gr\u00e2ce au partenariat avec Komar et son tissu de relations, le groupe dispose \u00e0 ce jour de 12 usines au Sri Lanka, avec 10.000 employ\u00e9s. Un mod\u00e8le que les dirigeants du groupe veulent reproduire au Togo.<\/p>\n\n\n

Pourquoi le choix du ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019envie de passer \u00e0 l\u2019international a amen\u00e9 les responsables du groupe \u00e0 faire des missions d\u2019explorations, notamment en \u00c9thiopie, au Kenya, au Ghana, au B\u00e9nin, au Togo, et au Bangladesh, au Vietnam, en Asie. L\u2019envie de \u00ab <\/em>pouvoir raconter une histoire qu\u2019aucun de nos concurrents ne pouvait raconter \u00bb<\/em>, a fait basculer la balance vers le Togo, choisi parmi cette cohorte de nations cibl\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qu\u2019est-ce qui a fait la diff\u00e9rence avec le Togo ? Trois aspects ont retenu l\u2019attention des dirigeants du groupe. D\u2019abord, le port de Lom\u00e9 est l\u2019un des meilleurs, sinon le meilleur en Afrique de l\u2019Ouest. Les perspectives du Group pour le Togo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Togo se pr\u00e9sente d\u00e9sormais comme \u00ab une valeur unique \u00bb<\/em> du groupe. Pour un d\u00e9but, l\u2019usine Star Garments Togo dispose de 304 personnes pleinement investies dans la production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A terme, le groupe entend mettre en place une usine avec 2.000 employ\u00e9s, ce qui fera du Togo une \u00e9conomie dynamique, tourn\u00e9e vers l\u2019exportation.<\/p>\n\n\n
