Le dimanche 25 f\u00e9vrier 2024, des S\u00e9n\u00e9galais ont converg\u00e9 vers les bureaux de vote, non pas pour choisir leur prochain pr\u00e9sident comme pr\u00e9vu, mais pour exprimer un \u00ab\u00a0deuil \u00e9lectoral\u00a0\u00bb suite au report de l\u2019\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 travers des votes symboliques \u00e0 Lingu\u00e8re et \u00e0 Dakar, initi\u00e9s par le F24 (mouvement des Forces vives) et le FC25 (Front des candidats de la pr\u00e9sidentielle du 25 f\u00e9vrier), ils ont manifest\u00e9 leur d\u00e9saccord avec le report et ont demand\u00e9 au pr\u00e9sident de fixer une nouvelle date sans tarder. Le Front des candidats de la Pr\u00e9sidentielle du 25 f\u00e9vrier, comprenant 16 des 19 candidats (apr\u00e8s le retrait de Rose Wardini pour double nationalit\u00e9), a cat\u00e9goriquement rejet\u00e9 l\u2019appel au dialogue lanc\u00e9 par Macky Sall les 26 et 27 f\u00e9vrier.<\/p>\n\n\n

Initialement pr\u00e9vus pour choisir leur nouveau pr\u00e9sident le dimanche 25 f\u00e9vrier 2024, les S\u00e9n\u00e9galais devaient \u00e9lire celui qui allait diriger le pays pour les cinq prochaines ann\u00e9es. Vingt candidats, ayant pass\u00e9 les crit\u00e8res du Conseil constitutionnel, \u00e9taient pr\u00eats \u00e0 entamer officiellement leur campagne \u00e9lectorale. Tout \u00e9tait en place pour la tenue de l\u2019\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle la plus ouverte de l\u2019histoire en termes de nombre de candidats (20, un record), avec peu de favoris clairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cependant, le samedi 3 f\u00e9vrier, \u00e0 14 heures, dix heures avant le d\u00e9but officiel de la campagne \u00e9lectorale, le pr\u00e9sident Macky Sall, se basant sur des all\u00e9gations de corruption de la part de Karim Wade (candidat recal\u00e9 pour double nationalit\u00e9) et du Pds contre 2 juges du Conseil constitutionnel et contre son Premier ministre et candidat Amadou Ba, a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de reporter ind\u00e9finiment l\u2019\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle en annulant le d\u00e9cret convoquant les \u00e9lections. Cette d\u00e9cision a plong\u00e9 le S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, une vitrine d\u00e9mocratique en Afrique, dans une crise politico-\u00e9lectorale sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent, suscitant des r\u00e9actions de la part des chancelleries occidentales et de la communaut\u00e9 internationale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suite \u00e0 la saisie des candidats, les sept sages ont rendu un arr\u00eat le jeudi 15 f\u00e9vrier, annulant le d\u00e9cret pr\u00e9sidentiel et d\u00e9clarant anticonstitutionnelle la loi vot\u00e9e par l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e nationale le 5 f\u00e9vrier, repoussant l\u2019\u00e9lection au 15 d\u00e9cembre.<\/p>\n\n\n

Dans leur d\u00e9cision, le Conseil a recommand\u00e9 au pr\u00e9sident d\u2019organiser l\u2019\u00e9lection dans les meilleurs d\u00e9lais, tout en lui rappelant que son mandat, ne pouvant \u00eatre prolong\u00e9, prenait fin le 2 avril.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suite \u00e0 cette d\u00e9cision, le pr\u00e9sident Sall a annonc\u00e9 l\u2019ouverture de pourparlers les lundis et mardis suivants. Cependant, ces discussions, dont la cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9 est contest\u00e9e, ne verront pas la participation de 16 des 19 candidats en lice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
